Election Information

 

  • The term is 4 years for Precinct Committeemen and Committeewomen.  
  • 2024 is the next election cycle for Precinct Committeemen and Committeewomen for each party. 
  • Candidates for political party precinct positions will qualify for office during the same period as state and county candidates. 
  • Only the names of candidates, with opposition in their precinct, will appear on the August 2024, Primary Election ballot. 
  • There is no run-off election for these positions.

Members and interested individuals must contact the Sumter County Democratic Party or Sumter County Republican Party membership coordinators designated below for additional information about qualifying as a candidate for state or precinct committeeman and committeewoman, or to obtain information about membership guidelines and party rules.
