MEETING OF THE SUMTER COUNTY CANVASSING BOARD
AND CANVASSING OF THE VOTE-BY-MAIL BALLOTS
FOR THE NOVEMBER 3, 2020 GENERAL ELECTION

This NOTICE is in accordance with 101.5612(2), Florida Statutes

The Sumter County Canvassing Board will convene at the office of the Supervisor of Elections, 316 E. Anderson Ave., Bushnell, FL at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 14, 2020 to conduct a Logic and Accuracy Test of the early voting and November 3, 2020 General Election ballot tabulating equipment to be used in Sumter County.  In accordance with the Sunshine Law of Florida, this meeting is open to the public. 

This NOTICE is in accordance with 102.141, Florida Statutes

The Sumter County Canvassing Board will reconvene on Thursday, October 22nd, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. for the purpose of canvassing vote-by-mail ballots and performing a pre-test on the tabulation equipment. Vote-by-mail ballots for the General Election will be available for public Inspection from 10:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at 316 E. Anderson Ave., Bushnell FL. Immediately afterwards, those vote-by-mail ballots will be processed.

Any vote-by-mail ballots received after Thursday, October 22nd, 2020 will be canvassed by the Canvassing Board (if needed) as follows: 
October 23rd, 2020, 10:00 a.m. Public Inspection from 10:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.,
October 26th, 2020, 10:00 a.m., Public Inspection from 10:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m., 
October 27th, 2020, 10:00 a.m., Public Inspection from 10:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.,
October 28th, 2020, 10:00 a.m., Public Inspection from 10:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.,
October 29th, 2020, 10:00 a.m., Public Inspection from 10:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.,
October 30t
h, 2020, 10:00 a.m., Public Inspection from 10:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m.,
November 2nd, 2020, 10:00 a.m., Public Inspection from 10:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. and upload results of ALL early voting and vote-by-mail ballots that have been canvassed and tabulated by the end of the early voting period.

BOARD IS RECESSING UNTIL 10:00 a.m., 11/03/2020 - Tuesday November 3rd, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Public Inspection from 10:00 a.m.  until 10:15 a.m. and a public Inspection from 4:00 p.m. until 4:15 p.m. The Sumter County Canvassing Board will remain in session until the results of the election are obtained.

Pursuant to Section 101.68(2), Florida Statutes, if any elector or candidate present believes that a vote-by-mail ballot is illegal due to a defect apparent on the voter’s certificate or the vote-by-mail ballot affidavit, he or she may, at any time before the ballot is removed from the envelope, file with the canvassing board a protest against the canvass of that ballot, specifying the precinct, the ballot, and the reason he or she believes the ballot to be illegal.  A challenge based upon a defect in the voter’s certificate or the vote-by-mail ballot affidavit may not be accepted after the ballot has been removed from the mailing envelope.

The Sumter County Canvassing Board will reconvene at 10:00 a.m. on Friday November 6th, 2020 to canvass Provisional Ballots and Cure Affidavits (if any). If it becomes necessary for the Sumter County Canvassing Board to reconvene due to a re-count, the time and date will be posted at the office of the Supervisor of Elections as well as online at www.sumterelections.org. The Sumter County Canvassing Board will reconvene at 5:00 p.m., November 13th, 2020 to canvass Overseas Ballots, Public Inspection from 5:00 p.m. until 5:15 p.m., and to certify the results of the election.
 
In accordance with the Sunshine Law of Florida, this meeting is open to the public.

NOTE: Section 286.0105, Florida Statutes, states that if any person decides to appeal any decision by a board, agency, or commission with respect to any matter considered at a meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based.

The Sumter County Canvassing Board will convene at the office of the Supervisor of Elections, 316 East Anderson Ave., Bushnell, FL at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, 2020 to conduct a Logic and Accuracy Test of the early voting and August 18, 2020 Primary Election ballot tabulating equipment to be used in Sumter County.  In accordance with the Sunshine Law of Florida, this meeting is open to the public.

Monday, August 24, 2020 Manual Audit will be performed.

FOR THE MARCH 17, 2020 PRESIDENTIAL PREFERENCE PRIMARY

This NOTICE is in accordance with 101.5612(2), Florida Statutes

The Sumter County Canvassing Board will convene at the office of the Supervisor of Elections, 316 E. Anderson Ave., Bushnell, FL at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2020 to conduct a Logic and Accuracy Test of the early voting and March 17, 2020 Presidential Preference Primary Election ballot tabulating equipment to be used in Sumter County.  In accordance with the Sunshine Law of Florida, this meeting is open to the public. 

This NOTICE is in accordance with 102.141, Florida Statutes

The Sumter County Canvassing Board will reconvene on Thursday, March 05, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. for the purpose of canvassing vote-by-mail ballots and performing a pre-test on the tabulation equipment. Sealed vote-by-mail ballots for the Presidential Preference Primary Election will be available for public Inspection from 10:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. at 316 E. Anderson Ave., Bushnell FL. Immediately afterwards, those vote-by-mail ballots will be opened and processed.

Any vote-by-mail ballots received after Thursday, March 05, 2020 will be canvassed by the Canvassing Board (if needed) as follows:
